For those that have bought from glasscages.com, did you buy regular aquarium or did you buy a turtle tank. I am thinking about an up grade for next year and I want as much info about peoples selection as possible and why.
Thanks in advance for your insight.

I've found that you can get a better deal from something like craigslist or the classifieds. We got our 125 from a family owned pet store. We got the 125 tank, one hood lamp, black oak stand, and 1 XP3 (we already had one) for just under 1K.

i havent bought from glasscages.com but i have browsed around their site.

from what i can see, their "turtle tanks" are named so because they make custom basking spots. but looking at the pictures they have, although they look nice, they take up alot of swimming space.

craigslist is probably better if you want to find a better deal, although glass cages is pretty respectable in pricing as well.

I ordered a regular tank. The ones with the built in basking area are nice, but I wanted the flexibility to build an above tank one later on.

i wonder if you could have them put the basking platform at the very top of the glass. i really like their basking platforms.

They do custom work. So if you designed something I am sure they would work with you to get it built. I image they could also build an acrylic basking area to rest on top of a glass tank. It wouldnt be as heavy. I would be worried that too much glass above the tank might make it top heavy and unstable. (but I have kids that like to put their paws all over the tank and lean in look at the turtle)

Thanks for the information so far. I have looked at craigslist and found nothing that I am looking for in my area. I just wanted to know about those that have bought from glasscages, what they bought and why. I do agree that the turtle tanks look pretty cool with the basking areas, but I too agree that they seem to take up alot of swimming area. I did really like the one that dropped down into what would almost appear to be a nesting area.
Thanks again all!
