I am pretty mad right now over my babies log. I noticed a few weeks ago that it looked like it was cracked and the top was disconnecting from the bottom. Then today I see that the "bark" has started coming off of the log and that part of the log has turned to mush! I am calling the company tomorrow and asking for a refund or a new log but I doubt they will give me one since I don't have the receipt and the site says its only covered for 6 months (which I have only had it for 2-3 anyway). There is no way the babies tore this up seeing as how they are only 2 inches. They really love this log but I don't know if it is worth the $30 to replace it every few months.

I'd look into the cork bark then. I never liked the floating dock... I felt the quality wasn't that impressive and I returned the one I had.

This isn't the floating dock it is the Turtle LOG, it looks just like a log and they can swim in and out of it as well as bask ontop of it:

I hated the turtle docks so my uncle made me custom ones out of plexiglass.

That sounds a lot like problems i and others have had with the floating docks. Some of the ones i had lasted years with no problems, others got mishy ands weird after a few months. I'd call and complain a little, they should know they have problems with these products.

Thats weird. I have had my Zoo Med Turtle LOG for over a year, and it is still in the same condition as when I first put it into the tank. Maybe it is just the luck of the draw?

Real cork bark - can't go wrong with it. Turtles love it. You can get a nice "curl" for $6 and cut it down if it's too large for your needs.

The problem isn't them needing a new dock, they have a custom dock. They love swimming inside of the log and climbing ontop of it. I will call ZooMed and see if they will give me any refunds if not I will buy them a new one and hopefully this one lasts until they are too big for it.

It does sound like it was defective and resin shouldn't break down like that.

I was thinking of getting one of those logs but I might reconsider if they break down like that.

They normally don't but if Sgt. Pepper is 3" he'll out grow it soon.

So I FINALLY called ZooMed (I know, I know its been forever) and the customer service people were very nice on the phone. They told me to put the log I have now inside of a box and tape a letter to that box saying what the problem was and then send it to them so they would send me a replacement!
So if anyone else ever has a ZooMed problem make sure to call the customer service people because you never know what they will do
Now I just have to find a box to put it in lol.

That's cool. It's nice when companies do that for people.

I've found that most companies are really nice, probably because everyone assumes the worst and don't ask for replacements. I bought a Coleman tent and 2 of the poles broke the first time using it, I contacted customer service, they sent me 5 replacements for free, so now I have spares in case anything else happens. It's good to know that ZooMed backs their products up!

I"m glad everything worked out, sounds like a good company. My local pet store sells the log for $42.99, thats way to expensive for me T_T

Unfortunately shipping is going to cost you around $10... They are only $30-$35 in all of the pet stores around here though. $42 just seems way too high. You can check bigalsonline.com or drsfosterandsmith.com and see if you can get it cheaper by using one of them. You might even try the online petstores (Petco, Petsmart) and see if you can get them cheaper online.
