i just got my Jager 200 watt water heater today and it said its submersible. and i thought that meant fully submersible. so when i went to put it in, i put it in all the way on the bottom parallel with the ground and plugged it in. well after two hours i was looking at it and i saw on it, it says "do not immerse beyond water line" and it has a line on the heater indicating it. so is my heater broken? or can i leave it out and let it dry.

Oh jeeze... mine has a water line and I have it laying flat along the bottom of the tank too. It's been like that for months! I just thought the water had to be at least that high (to cover it).

It probably wasn’t fully submersible. I would think to fix it to the water line and it should be ok but I'm not sure. What type of heater is it?

It should be fine and no need to dry it out, just make sure it's not submerged beyond that line. Some have said that they need to put that warning for their heaters sold in the US market.

well also, when i plugged it in, i noticed that the light that shows the heater is working wasnt on. i just thought that it had a sensor for water temp so it turns on when the water is below the set temp. i had it set at 76 and the water was like 79.

I've accidently filled my tanks above the water line on the heater before as well. Especially since it was for such a short time, it should be OK. Just make sure you do see it cycling on and off.

i looked at the description of the heater at bigals (where i bought it), and it states that the heater is completely water proof.

why would they say that yet have a line where water should not pass!!

The best that I can say is that most places that sell things are stupid. I intentionally went to the pet store and looked at manuals before buying my recent heater.

RicharDC4, I have two 200-watt Ebo Jagers and both have the "do not immerse below water line" on them (every Jager I've bought has said the same thing). They are in heater guards and are lying on the bottom of a 100-gallon stock tank. They are fine, and I've had no problems having them fully submerged. The company puts that disclaimer on them to protect them from liability. They are, however, fine to put under water. You may, though, have to adjust the temp a bit---I've heard they can run hotter than the thermostat says (mine are right on the money, at least for now). This can also happen with other brands as well---I have a Stealth that runs lower and I have to set the indicator higher to get the temp I want---so it's always good to check the water temp with a thermometer and make adjustments accordingly.
