hello...

i consider about changing my filter, but i confused what to buy

can i have 198 gallons canister filter for my 20 gallons tank?

there's a big sale in local store and since i will upgrade my tank sooner or later, i find it a good way to safe money...so i won't have to buy another filter for my upgraded tank

but for the mean time, will it be ok for my tiny winnie tank?
compas is my RES and i'll do almost anything for him to be happy and healty for the rest of his life

I think it should be fine. I am running a Rena XP3 in a 30 gallon at the moment. Possibly upgrading too a 110 gallon stock tank in a few weeks. The only thing you will have to worry about is how much suction it may have and it may make it difficult for your RES too swim especially in such a small tank.

I think you will be okay. You should have at least 5 times the volume. I assume that you are talking about 198 GPH? If that is the case you can direct the output so that it is dispursed so the little guys are not uncomfortable. I have a 350 gph on a 29 gallon and it is doing fine.
