Does anyone know if a 27w full-spectrum natural daylight lamp has the necessary UVA/UVB output for hatchlings? I looked online and did a search here, but haven't been able to find any info on just how much of what it does has. We did buy a Repti Glo 5.0 light but then I started wondering if maybe the two lights were the same thing.

As for the heater, we've got a 10 gal tank that's a little less than half full. Would a 5 gal submersible heater be enough or should I go ahead and get the one for a 10 gal?

Do you mean the screw-in compact fluorescent bulbs? No, those do not output UVB. As for using them as a basking lamp, I don't think they put out enough heat.

Your heater should be sufficient for the volume of water in your tank. As long as it is able to maintain the correct water temp.

"Full spectrum" lighting is a bit misleading......You really need a dedicated bulb like a 5.0 UVB to provide your turt with the necessary light to provide your turt with the light he needs....
Tell us what kind of lighting setup you have now.......

A 10 gallon tank is a bit small, but will do for a hatchling....but only for a short period. Those heaters will be OK for now but you need to start planning now for a bigger tank, heater, filter, etc.
