The ceramic rings don't come with the filter? Which media is included, and which will I need to buy to start using it once my XP3 comes in the mail?

You will need to buy the ceramic rings. Thats pretty much all you need. There are a couple of questions on this in this part of the forum already...you could look through some of those.
