Filter issues

Ok well basically i have a filter that i got in a slider turtle kit that sucks extremely bad!!!! I was wondering if someone can post me some links of extremely good filters im looking to pay 50 dollars or less if this is possible?? The one i have now is submersible but im willing to try anything! Thanks so much!

How big is you tank? The aquaclears and the filstar XPs are highly recommended by most members on this forum.

Yeah I guess the filstars are too big then, but look into the aquaclears, just make sure you get an extension tube too(unless your water line is high enough.).

This is what I'd do. Myrtle is going to outgrow that 20 gallon tank real fast. Your next upgrade will probably be to a 55 gallon or something close. I'd wait for the upgrade and then invest in a good XP3, which will run around $90 but will last and you can still use it when you go for your final tank in the 70 to 100 gallon range.
In the meantime, save your money and do very frequent water changes. It's a pain in the neck but would be an incentive to proceed with the next upgrade.

also i am getting a aquarium stand so whatever filter i buy can be hidden in the stands cabnet

A cabinet is perfect for a canister filter (like an XP3) which sits on the floor underneath the tank.

bigalsonline.com has a lot of filters. I have an AquaClear 70 for my 20gal L tank, and it works really well, but if you're upgrading soon, you probably want to wait and get the XP3.
And yes, AquaClears hang on the side of the tank.

well here is my issue i have a slide in screen for the top that the uv lights sit on top of and theres really no other way for me to hang the lights cause its like a hood and it just sits on top. So maybe i can only do a submersible? Its a little frustrating i dont know what to do

If the UVB light is shining though a screen with holes smaller them 1/2", most, or all of the UVB rays will be filtered out.

plus whats the chances of the lights falling in the tank and my turtle getting shocked? Sounds silly to me
