Spookster, I'd use the python if I could, but the room most of the turtles are in isn't near a sink that would work with it. When I get them into the basement, then I'll have access to a sink with threads on it.

The waste degrader reduces solids so you can't see them, but doesn't clean the water. I can't believe it's a substitute for biomedia.

Most sinks have threads on them, but the are cover by a "cap" that just screws in. Try unscrewing the part of the facet where the water comes out.

cant you buy a bigger bottle online? I never thought of that, but i use a lot in my 55 gal... it's something like 10 table spoons.

Usually the threads are in the inside you can get a fitting that fits inside from a hardware store to make it so you can use the python.

I may be wrong, but I believe that's the brass adaptor that it currently comes with.

For what it's worth, a local hardware store will usually have similar parts for a cheaper price.

When I get these guys into the basement, I'll have access to a sink with threads. I know a garden hose will screw on to it, so I'm going to assume the python will as well. Before I used it thought, I want to cut it into two and have 2 of them (the python is 75' and I won't need a length anywhere as long as that). The sink closest to them now is impossible to use, even for water---it's shallow, quite small and has both a hot water and cold water faucet.

I have to use an adaptor so I can use a garden hose on my sink, but the adaptor that came with my Python will fit my sink.

So, in your opinion steve, does the python remove water at a extremely fast rate? I have a vaccum that i use currently but it drains into a bucket, not a big deal i dont wanna suck any more than 5 gal out of my tank (i only have 30 or so gal in it).

Can i slow how fast i "suck" water out by slowing down the water at the sink?
