Yes it does float around a bit but it still gets under the basking lamp quite a lot - though not all the time. I am keeping an eye on it and thought about trying the suction cup idea but it seems as if part of the fun for them is moving it around. They have learned to work together to move it around to where they want it to be some of the time - especially at night when they want to sleep - they seem to get it under the lamp (who says turtles aren't smart!). I have at times also put a zoomed turtle dock in there but it does take up more space that way. Some will bask on the dock, others play with the log. I think they like the variety a bit.
