Searching ebay right now. I'm looking at a Rena XP3 for 140 shipped. Anything else I should consider before I hit buy it now?

Just bought one here in WI for 151 Shipped+Tax.

The 4 Plus and 501 couldn't handle all 75 gallons of water. I've also got 6 backs of black marine sand waiting to go in. Should be here Tuesday.

Yes... make sure they have positives for selling that item, not a bunch of 1 or 2 dollar junk :)

Yep! Just make sure it is big enough and the gph will do the job. 5x time the water volume in the tank. b.

It's done! After the difference in cost, tax, and shipping it came out to 30 more for the XP4!!! Total cost for XP4 = $180. I hope I know what I got myself into with this. I was looking at them at the local petsmart which sells them for $269.99. I must say, the XP4 is HUGE!!!

Yes, the XP4 is huge, but I think you will be very happy. I have an XP3 and it is a lifesaver! Your only other major expense will be media, so look into places that sell it cheaper. I've found that PetSolutions.com has excellent prices, esp. if you are willing to buy multiple pieces at once. And $180 is a great price!

I'm thinking of running a basket full of Biomax and pillow stuff for the rest. Once I can afford more I will add another tray of Biomax and something else.

Ru-con Yep! Just keep the water flow and you should do just fine. I like as much flow as I can get without turning it into a blender. I have a 350 gph on a 29 gallon and a 55 gallon and they do fine. Good Luck! b.
