Hello,
I'm planning on putting my turt in a 500L tank (135G?) but I'll need to buy a pump for the water to get to the filter wich will have a little waterfall. My question is: how much noise can the pump make under water without stressing or bothering him. will it bother him at all?

Not forgetting that I live in Brazil and can't afford to buy imported pumps and filters, my best option up till now is this one:
http://www2.ciashop.com.br/aquajr/produ ... =2&pf_id=6

It says that it pumps up to 2000L per hour.

Thanks

It depends on how noisy it is. From my own experience, most turts like things calm and quiet. Even running an aerator for long periods can stress them out.

Does anybody use a submerged pump? Is there a noise limit that won't stress turtles.
I can try and ask how much noise it makes, but I don't think the salesman knows and there's no info on that.

Anyone have a similar situation?

I use a submerged water pump to run a phosphate remover i have, the first one i got was really cheap and made a fairly loud buzzing noise, it didn't seem to bother my turtle but it bothered the hell outta me! I got a new one, with a filter on the intake because the old one got clogged frequently, and it's close to silent. I think every turtle is different as to what stresses them out, younger turtles seem to need more peace and privacy than the older ones. You just have to experiment and see what works best for your turtle!
Oh the pump i have (the quiet one) is made by Penguin, i don't know if it would be available where you are or not. The noisy one i think was made by Rio, but i'm not sure. Hope this was a little bit helpful at least!

Yes, it does help. I was just wondering if anybode else uses a pump underwater. The pump that I'm looking into is a Resun. Ever heard of it? It pumps upto 2000LPH.

Stay away from the Rio's. They are considered cheap garbage in the aquarium hobby.

Actually I don't have many options here. How about RESUN? Anybody heard of it?

Never heard of Resun, but i gotta agree with DavidY on the Rio pump, it was about half the price of the others and a complete waste of my money. You get what you pay for i guess. Luv_my_Turtle, i hope whatever pump you decide to get works out for you.

Maybe try looking on ebay for one? Some people usually ship worldwide... just check it out to make sure before you bid..
