Hi! I love the idea of the Pythone cleaning system and I'm thinking about getting one. BUT! Does anyone know if it can be hooked up to an outside faucet??

I can't find info on this anywhere... My tank is nowhere near an indoor sink but very close to a sliding glass door to our backyard and there is a hose spigot near...

Thanks in advance.

Are there threads on the spigot? You can get an adaptor for it if it doesn't fit.

Yes, there are threads but i just realized that it's only 3" from the ground. It comes right out of the side of the house. No biggie if the connection is short or bends quickly - for lack of a better way of trying to describe it.

Hmmm. I'll have to look at one closely at the store - maybe even open a package! Yikes! :)

Thanks.

Here is what the connector for the python looks like:

As long as you have about 3 to 4 inches from the ground, it will work. I'd only worry about the water being drained so close to your foundation.

it is the same type of adaptor they make for filling/draining a water bed. I have made one myself using one of those and hooked it to the outdoor spigot to "vaccume" my outdoor pond in the spring.

The green thing that connects to the faucet is the exact same one that is used for water beds. In fact ours broke and we had one from a waterbed laying around. It was blue though.

Yes, the green fittings on the python are Garden Hose Adaptor (GHA) fittings, my service company uses the python system on occasion for aquarium installations. I'm not sure of your maintenance plans for this set up, but just be sure not to fill your tank directly from the faucet. The temp will likely be too far off and if there is chlorine in the water it will knock out your bio-filter. If so, just pick up an appropriate sized barrel with a dolly and a submersible pump. You can get an inexpensive mag 5 and attach a 1/2"XGHA fitting to it and use the python again to get the water from the barrel after it is treated to the tank.
