I have the same dock as pictured by Steve. Half of it sinks when my Mr. Tortuga is on it and my tank truns green every three days. THis was purchased at Pet Smart. Could this be causing algae buildup??

If his dock is sinking when he's on it then all of his shell isn't getting dry as he basks. Over an extended period of time, this can lead to shell rot. I'd look into a bigger/better basking area ASAP. There are tons of ideas on homemade basking areas through out the forum. If you use the search function at the to some should come up. This is a good way to go for older/larger turtles. :)

If the dock is staying wet, and is under the basking lights, this will lead to algae buildup. A good scrubbing at each tank cleaning should help some.
