Don't know if anyone has the same problem or not, I got this small size floating turtle dock about one month ago(the one that most people have in their picture), and I clearly remembered that first day when I got it, it float above the water about half way, but now it seems that it had sunken more and more everyday, now it appears crooked on another side, and whenever my turtle get on there, the water came in immediately, is this consider defect? does anyone have the same problem I have?

I think the problem is that your turtle is too big for the small zoomed dock. Yours is about the size of my smallest and I know there's no way he'd be able to fit on one of those comfortably with out it sinking in.

When the turtle isn't on it, does it all stay above the water or does it still not float correctly. do you have the water filled up so that it's above the holder for the dock?

when my turtle is not on there, it is crooked as well, the one side that got sunken the most is nearly level with the water level, but the other side is fine, the floating dock is complete floating on the water. If i get a medium dock, it may cover half of my tank

I think my turtle is only about 80g.

i do remember when i first put my dock in the tank bubbles started forming underneath it. which i take as the dock is absorbing some of that water and the air os being displaced. but my dock does float level and above the water line. yours just might have absorbed too much water. i would consider that a defect. try taking it back to the place you bought it from. maybe they'll exchange it for another one.

How big is your tank? With the size your turtle is, you should have at the minimum a 30 gallon tank. I don't think a medium dock would take up that much space in your tank. I used to have one in my 20 gallon. Actually it only covers the surface area and they still have plenty of swimming space. It all depends on how you place it in your tank.

i personally despise the turtle docks...i like my built one...18x18x7, so they'll always be able to use it, and its no where in water, above tank

i plan on building my own in about a month. my turtle is getting a lil too heavy for my current dock

Wow, it sounds like a good idea to build your own basking area, does anyone know a website that has good tutorial on how to build one? or if you have a good idea about handmade basking dock, I'd love to know.
I re-decorate my tank today since I got my stuff from Big Als, their packagings are awsome, great service, I would shop with them again.
I will show you my new upgrade in gallery soon. :wink:

To cam722: I have a 10 gallon tank, which I understand it's still small for my turtle, but since now I"m just a college student living in dorm, I have certain restrictions, I just can't wait when I find a job and move out to an apartment, I'll have money and space to get my turtle a big nice tank.

I exchanged my turtle dock today for a new one, and it's definitly a lot better, however, I still have a feeling that it may sink down more and more in about few week or month, if that happen, I'm going to build my own so I don't have to worry about it anymore
