Hi all,
I'm wondering how much better the FX5 is compared to the 405? I have been using the 405's for years and love them, other than priming them after a cleaning (they don't like to start up all the time) I use a 405 with and AquaClear 70 HOB on my 40 gallon breeder for babies. Then on my big 150 gallon for the adults, I use a 405 and 2 AquaClear 110 HOB's. I was thinking of replacing one of the 110 HOB's and putting on an FX5, but didn't know how big the diff from the 405 there was.

405-for 100 gallons - 340gph
fx5- for 400 gallons - 607 gph

fx5 is pretty much twice as good

Also rsour, you didn't take into account the sheer volume, which is more than double in the fx5. 2.25g vs 5.2 g. Or 8.5 liters vs 20 liters.
Price is 3x though.
