ok so im upgrading to a 65 gallon tank but i want to have everything b4 i get the little guy all set up in the tank. so basically what i want to know is what is the cheapest filter i can get for a 65 gallon tank that is adequate for turtles. i only have one turtle thats getting to 3" and i will be having some feeder fish in the tank aswell but not a ton. right now i only have 8 or 9 and dont plan on getting more till im down to about 5 or so. so its just one turtle but it will of coarse be getting larger. but i cant drop 300$ on a fx5. id like to but its just not in the cards. my b-day is coming up so ill be able to get some extra cash from that so thats my question:

what is the cheapest filter i can get for a 65 gallon tank that is adequate for turtles?

I would say if you can, go for a Rena XP3. They're usually $100-120, and it'd be a great filter for a 65g. Plus, if ever you did want to upgrade your tank, you could still use the filter on a bigger tank.
A similar range of filter would be the Fluval 405, but they are usually more expensive.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Cascade filters, you might want to a bit of research into them too.

But of all the equipment for turtles, the filter is one thing you don't want to go cheap on.

Im low on money too and been using an xp3,it does an awesome job but it doesnt come with much biological media,so i bought seachem matrix to go with it and never had any issues .

ok, where did u find it for 100-120. the cheapest i found it is 162 on amazon. around here i found it for 180 in the store. show me a link?

Are they now down to $100 again? They had a bit of a price surge the last couple of years, making them hard to recommend over the FX5 and Ehiem filters.

Sorry, I thought I saw them for about 120 recently, but it might have just been on boxing day or some other sale.

At a reptile store near my house they have them on sale for 99$ just this sunday

The XP3 is a good buy at around 100-120, but you will have to look around for that price.
