I was thinking of upgrading filters along with getting sand for my tank and making an above basking area. I think my tank is about 50 gallons. I wanted to know if you would recommend this filter or are there better ones for a 50 gallon tank in a decent price range.

i voted yes because I've had good luck with marineland filters lasting over 20 years in my family. a 50 gallon tank is pushing the limit on size for the filter incorporated in a turtle tank setup, tho.

be aware that as soon as you upgrade your tank you'll also need to supplement your filtration

I wanted to get that one because it said it filtered 350 gallons per hour. what do mean by supplement? I wanted to get a new filter because the one I have is meant for 20 gallons.

co-44 A 350 gph for a 50 is just fine. You may get a little swirl in the water but that is fine. After you get it hooked up you will need to adjust the intake and outflow to fit your needs.

i mean that once you upgrade your tank to a larger size the filter may need to be replaced by a more powerful one, or assisted by a 2nd filter.

Oh, ok, Thank you. Hopefully the filter will come with directions on how to adjust the intake and outflow.

Corey - if you have any questions about this filter, let me know; I've been using this filter for 12+ years now!
