Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

I'm pretty sure my year-old water heater is loosing steam. Before buying any old thing, wanted to see if there were any hardcore fanatics of a certain brand or anything :D

Thanks for your opinions!

I know the Visi-therm Stealth heaters are popular with many people here, since they are shatter proof.

I've got a Hagen Marina heater in Ralph's tank, which I don't know if they make any more, because I couldn't find it online. It's fine, although sometimes I can hear it heating up, which is weird.

In Frankie's tank, I've got this:

I'm actually quite happy with it. It keeps the temp very well, and is totally silent. It's easy to adjust too. I picked up a spare one for $17 just in case Ralph's dies on me.

I will search for the Hagen Marina and hopefully it's still in production somewhere!

I'd skip the hagen marina, I like the Hagen Elite better. When I got it, I asked for the Marina heater for my birthday because it came with a digital thermometer, so it was a pretty good deal. But the thermometer turned out to be pretty crappy too

I personally have a Top Fin (PetSmart's brand I think) one. It was cheap, it works great, it's responsive, it's quite, no complaints out of me! Granted, so far my turtle hasn't found a reason to try to break it, but so far, no problems, and I've had it for 1.5 years.

I like the submersible titanium heaters. The tetra pre-set is not bad for the price. If you are looking for something nicer... I have a finnex submersible titanium with external digital control. http://www.finnex.net/itemdetail.php?id=50

Whatever one you choose, if it's not shatter proof, definitely get a heater guard. ^^ You probably know that already though.

Submersible titanium with external control and seperate thermostat.

However make sure they are both in same water. I put heater "safely" out of the way in the filter and thermostat in pond. When the pond filter hose fell off, i ended up with a slighlty fried filter. OOPS!

With a glass heater use a heater guard - or better still do not buy a glass heater
