Hey everyone!

I got the fluval 304...in a half filled tank. If i dont put on the super nozzle it comes out like a slow faucet and is worthless....IF i put on the super nozzle ITS CRAZY LOUD.

My goals:

1. Eliminate the stagnant water
2. Quiet the noise!
3. make my filter move everything around

Should i get a spray bar? Or should i get a bubble thing in the side?

Can you partially submerse the nozzle? Thats what I used to do and you can also direct it toward the wall of the tank to impede the flow. I think you can also use the Aqua Stop lever to restrict intake/output, though I'm don't think its a good idea to do that for long periods of time.

Just to add another question to the post:

Today I received the filter for my new tank (an Eheim Professional II 2028). As usual, the 4 pages of instructions aren't the best, and it is my first canister filter, so I have to ask; When fitting the spray bar, does it go above the water or below? I always imagined it being under the water, but the picture in the manual shows it about an inch above the surface, with the water spraying in.

I think thats up to you, however, in most cases I see it out of the water.

When I used a spray bar with the XP3, I put it under the surface (silent). Some people say the spray bar of the XP3 makes a whistling sound if it's above the water, but don't know about the Eheim's.

On my XP3 I put the spray bar below the water level and point the nozzles up towards the surface. It ripples the surface of the water so I know that it is still working plus it keeps the surface of the water from getting stagnant.
