the only problem is i built the stand before i bought the fx5 and i dont think its going to fit in the cabinets i made. cuz my original intentions were to keep my fluval 303 and by a similar filter to that standard. and those would deffinatly fit. where as now the fx5 is huge and idk if its gonna fit. so im trying to figure out a place to put it

My boyfriend and I are building a stand for my new 120 gallon tank. That was one of my concerns too. The measurement from the bottom of the filter to the top where the hose comes out is about 21 inches. And side to side at it's widest part is about 16 inches. But you need extra clearance on top to take the media out. The neat thing is that, if you have a Python, you can hook it right up to the filter for draining/filling the tank. So, in theory, you never really have to move the filter, you just have to be able to get the media out. Not sure how well it works with draining and filling, but I will try it out.

lol i doubt im gonna be able to fit in in underneath the stand let alone change the media. lol. i made holes in the back tho so the hoses can go through. other than that i think as long as im able to squeeze it in there ill be fine. ill just have to disconnect it and turn it off to change the media. but id have to do that anyway. the only problem is if its gonna fit through the cabinet door of the stand...
