The filter cartridge for my axolotls tank(a marineland eclipse 3g all in one) was going to crap, so I decided rather than buy a new one, I came up with this idea.
What I used:

Heres a pic next to my wallet for size comparison:

Now I cut the blue filter floss/foam off the top of the cartridge, and wedged in some of the prefilter in staggered order:

Then I grabbed a small coffee scooper and scooped some carbon into the cartridge. This is how water will flow through it:

So there's another crazy idea of mine. Now I have all three elements, mechanical(pre filter), chemical(carbon), and biological(bio wheel).

anything supercharged is a good idea.
Horsepower is how fast you hit a wall. Torque is how far you move a wall

it looks like the tail got chopped off. did you chop it off!?. or did it fall off?

The filter is part of the all in one system.

on the far left, there is a down tube for the intake, then the square is a powerhead, then in the open space is where the media goes, and to the right is where the bio wheel goes, then there are two holes where the outflow comes out.
