I can get the Reptil glo for quite a bit cheaper. Is there any real difference between these two bulbs?

I think people use whatever is available. I use the ReptiGlo 5.0 because it was in the pet store. I like it, it works well, we've been going strong for awhile now, getting close to bulb changing time. I think the only difference is how they look and who makes them, really.

I use the Reptiglow CF because it is way cheaper and from what I have read, it is just as good as the Reptisun.

The zoo med reptisun compact fluorescents have been known to cause severe eye irritation in turtles and other reptiles. Usually the 10.0's are the problem but also 5.0's have been the cause. It's got to do with the formula for the coating on the bulbs. The problem was supposed to have been fixed but lately we've been seeing more instances of turtles whose eyes have become swollen and irritated when a new reptisun compact fluorescent has been installed.

There's no problem with the reptisun tube fluorescents. They are among the most respected products out there.

There has not been a similar problem with the exo terra repti glo compact fluorsecents. The repti glo 5.0 13 watt bulb is too weak to be effective, so you should get the 26 watt 5.0 bulb.

Wow, I made good choices! I have a Reptisun tube fluorescent over half of my tank AND I use the Reptiglo CF 26 watt 5.0 bulb. Sweet.
