Equipment Review and Discussion :: is this a good deal?

i need some advice. im thinking of buying a new tank, and i was wondering if this is a good deal. also, the filters mentioned in the post, are they good filters? and can i buy the cartridges and/or media from petsmart or petco easily?

Here's the post:

--The tank dimensions are 16 x 25 x 60 inches with the stand being 19 x 25 x 63 inches. The tank comes with everything:
Two excellent filters to keep the water crystal clear:
* Millennium 3000 Filter- 295 GPH which offers mechanical, chemical and wet/dry biological filtration for freshwater and saltwater aquariums
* Penguin 350 BioWheel Filter- 350 GPH which also has a 3-stage filtration

Really a great piece for any home.

Yes, that is a good deal. That tank is roughly 100 gallons so that is a good price for the tank alone. Plus it comes with a stand. Great deal, I say buy it if you can.

Both filters are the kind you hang over the side of the tank. I think most people here would recommend you get a canister filter for that size of tank, but maybe those 2 filters together would work. You can always try them out and see how clean the tank is. And yes you should be able to easily find media for those filters.

Like I said, GREAT deal for the tank and stand alone.

Tank and stand, that's worth it. You'll want to make the deal contingent on assuring that the tank is water-tight still and in good shape.

All of the other stuff is just icing on the cake, worst case you can try to sell what you don't need.

Those filters that hang on the tank can be used in conjunction with a good canister filter to keep your tank extra clean.

The width is only 16"? That's a bit narrow for a full grown RES. At $250 I would skip it unless you are willing to upgrade down the line.

Oh durrr, I didn't even think about that, I just calculated the total gallons of the tank. Steve is (of course) right, you should look for a tank that is wider.
