I remember when I posted about this particular canister filter before a few people said they had the same.

My question - have you ever used the 'water polishing' do-hickey and how often?

Also, how do you gage when it is time to clean the filter itself?

So far, I absolutely love this filter. Her water always looks great.

All-Chain -- I have several and they do great. I have one that is so old I have to oil it every month or so. The others have sealed bearings. They pump 350 gallons per hour. I also use one as a polisher with and use carbon to finish up the water. It really clears up the water. I also have a Fluval 405 and it is a littler quieter, but the difference is very little. It is easy to clean and I do like them. m.
