So, I went to the store today and they were out of 5.0 26 watt UVB bulbs until Friday. So I got a 10.0 13 watt bulb. My question is, is this OK for the turtles for 6 months? Or should I wait until Friday and then go back to the store and get the 5.0 bulb?

And, my Mr. Cleaner is breaking. I think water somehow got into the spot where the batteries are supposed to be. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to get a new Mr. Cleaner?

Miss Emma - I would suggest that you wait. The 10.0 is very strong at the same distance. Your turtles will do okay for a few days without the uvb. I am sure there are others that will comment on this. -- Mikee

I've used 10.0 without a problem. How far away is the bulb from the basking area?

A couple of my Mr. Cleaner's have broken on me too. I couldn't get them going again. When they were on sale, I bought several so I wouldn't ever be without one again. :D

What brand is your UVB bulb?

Isn't 5% of 26 watts, the same as 10% of 13 watts?

Not exactly. From what I've read, the numbers will vary from different companies. Exo Terra bulbs have weaker output compared to the Reptisuns and seem to be more fragile (I'm speaking of the compact fluorescents).

Mine is a Exo-Terra brand. (ReptiGlo). Anyways, I am taking the UVB light back tomarrow because I am just going to exchange it for a 5.0. Plus, the bulb is broken. I am having a lot of bad luck with that. Every time I get a bulb, it always ends up to be broken in some spot!
