Grass is a big NO NO, if your turtle ate it by accident (though im curious to how she managed to swallow the grass without water) then watch her extra careful and make sure she doesnt get ill. But, anything you find outside (crickets, cockroaches, flys) Should NEVER be fed to your turtle.

I don't think it's that drastic if they eat things from outside. As long as the lawn hasn't been treated with pesticides or weed killers within the past few weeks. It's true you run a risk when they eat from the outdoors and many people prefer to stay on the safe side since the consequences could be serious (parasites, poisoning). But for the most part, as long as you and your neighbors are not pesticide/chemical happy you should be okay in moderation. When I take my Bearded Dragons out for some fresh air I let them eat all the weeds, etc. they want. If they can catch some wild bugs, I think it's actually good since they get a more natural diet that way (wild bugs feed on a wide variety of plant life). Same with my chameleon. She is really good at catching bugs. :D

Well, that's the problem with feeding wild vegetation, you don't know what their nutritional make up is. Even worse, a lot of things growing around our backyards could be poisonous to the turtle. It's most likely best to stick to the veggies on the list. They have all been tested and documented as to their nutritional values.

My turtles have never tried to eat grass when I took them outside. If anything, it is kinda pokey & they are always rubbing their face to get the grass away from their eyes!
