Feeding and Nutrition :: Tip for Zuchinni

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I used to chop up zuchinni for Ralph then steam it quickly to semi-cook it. He usually ate it half-heartedly, maybe spitting it out a few times and looking for everything else before he went back to it. However, the last couple times, I just peeled it so it made long narrow strips (like most of you do with carrots) and threw it in raw, and he totally snarfed it! He cleaned the zu up before everthing else!
So if you've tried cooked zuchinni before, and your turt wasn't fond of it, try it this way next time and he/she might like it better :)

Thanks for the tip. I haven't offered zuchinni yet this summer. I think there's even some in the fridge. I probably would have cooked it some first, it's what I've done in the past. Of course my guys eat just about anything.

I've got a surplus of zu. It grows in our garden, and if it's not picked or it's hiding under a leaf, it can grow as thick as a persons thigh and almost 2 feet long... So both me and Ralph have had our share of zuchinni recently ^_^;
