You'd see a lot more green/loose turds. It's also possible that your turtle would lose interest and they will overrun your tank. They will also clog your filter more often.

I see, so technically it imposes no harm to the turtle right? ..I'll also do regular root trimming etc to prevent any clogging..

Well, if your turtle won't give it a rest then it could be problematic. No way to know what happens until you actually try it.

I thought that I’d share my experiences with you. If you look at pictures I’ve posted of my 125 gallon tank it is full of water lettuce, water hyacinth and duckweed just as most ponds are full of aquatic vegetation. Your RES will figure out how much to eat. Aquatic plants are low calorie so no worries there. As far as the filter I use an Eheim 6664 prefilter. In addition the plants act as a biofilter. Finally it’s a great hiding spot for your turtle. All good!!!!
