Feeding and Nutrition :: One of my RES turtles won't stop basking and won't eat.

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I have 2 RES, one is 10 years old and the other is about a year old. They're separated with a divider for now in a 75 gallon tank (giving the 10 year old the most space). They lived happily, swimming, basking, eating regularly..etc. Until the 10 year old got sick with pneumonia. So i put them in different tanks until his treatment was over. When i put the little guy in the new tank he wasn't eating anymore, I figured he was just skittish, and im not quite sure if he ate because i would put lettuce in there and i couldn't tell if there were bite marks. So now that the treatment is over i put him back in his original tank and got new lamps for basking plus a new heater. So the little turtle went up on his basking platform 4 days ago and hasn't come down, I put him in the water to see if he would eat and he climbs right back up ignoring the food. He doesn't appear to be sick with pneumonia, no swollen eyes, no open mouth breathing. So im pretty sure he didn't get sick. Is this normal???? I figured maybe since he's still little he's just scared from all the tank swappings. Will this settle itself out??

What is the water temperature? What have you been feeding them?

Water temperature is about 82 and all sorts of things, regular turtle food (floating sticks) romaine lettuce, freeze dried mealworms, the older turtle eats all the time now and is very active, just why isn't the little one like that? Update: I put him in the water and now he's just floating there, not swimming at all just floating

Is it possible he caught something as well? Are there any other symptoms? I would try some live prey, if you use minnows, hold them by the tail and let it wiggle in front of his face.

Did it appear after he was out of water for awhile?
