Feeding and Nutrition :: Odd problem

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Quick question - my turtle, Sheldon, was given a feeder fish. Now he has made it a buddy instead of eating him. Not that I mind but it seems that the fish is eating the turtle poop. That being said, I can't tell if Sheldon has pooped or not.

He ate about a pellet worth of food yesterday so... *shrugs*

Thanks!

its pretty common, when i first put rosy reds in my tank I dont think Kaya stopped chasing them for days. Now the most effort she will put into catching one is turning her head and opening her mouth, so as long as they dont decide to swim in there they should be safe lol, what a lazy turtle. Every once in a while she will suprise me though, she will go weeks without even trying and then take 2 or 3 in one day.

I usually buy 10 feeder (regular) and 6 feeder (large). In the first couple days my turtle will eat most of the regular sized and a couple of the large.

In the end she will leave 4 large and 1 regular swimming for about a month.

I don't buy more until she eats them all.

It's cool because the feeder fish will eat any left over pellet debris :)

I bought a dozen goldfish for Martha this past July. I ended up giving them away 2 weeks ago. They were about 1 inch long when I bought them. The largest one was 6 inches long when I gave them away. Martha prefers Rosy Reds, but she'll only eat an average of 1 a week or so.

I am surprised how many responses I had to my craigslist ad for the goldfish. I just gave them away, but from how many people really want them, I probably should of charged a buck or two per fish. They only cost me $.13 each.

Isn't that the best? I bought my one fish and handed the clerk a quarter and I got change back. lol

Maybe you should have. Either way, as long as the turtles have fun, we all make out like bandits. ;)

Lol. I bought 5 guppies and about 4 shrimp for Tesla. He ate all the shrimp, but only one of the fish. He just kinda stares at them now. :P
Really hoping he eats them soon though because some of them seem pregnant.

^^Uh oh. That might be a good thing. Perpetual feeding for the turtle. Although if he doesn't eat those either, it could get crowded in the tank. See if the pet store will take them back or if you can sell them on craigslist. :)
