Feeding and Nutrition :: Separate Feeding Tank

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it:

1) What do you guys use for a separate feeding tank (how large)
2) How much water do you put in it?

These Jello Shots are too messy for the main tank...Thanks!

you can use anything really, smaller tank, Rubbermaid container. you just have to make sure there is enough water in it so the turtle can submerge and they can get out. you could just watch them

I have a 10L rubbermaid container that is clear. I fill it about half way give them food and put them in one at a time (started it to prevent a lil piggy from eating all the food ;))

If they are not supervised when in a feeding tank, make sure the water is deep enough so can right themselves if they flip over.

I use a small rubbermaid container, and fill it enough to cover part of her shell. I add a little more water now then what is in this picture (basically filling it halfway) just because she seems to have an easier time finding the food if she can put her face underwater to look. Also i use water taken from the tank, that way its the same temp as what she's used to. And while she's eating i top off the tank with fresh water and do any other tank maintenance needed.

I use dishpans that are used exclusively for turtle feeding for my Eastern painteds. For my larger RES I use a 10-gallon tank.
