So one of my turtles, i think it was Sheldon, was eating my snails algae wafers. is that a bad thing? or is it fine? also they were both eating the fish flakes that i dropped in for the minnows. again is this OK?

It's fine, but you'll probably want to drop the wafers in while your turtles are asleep.

This might be the wrong place to ask, but i have 6 mystery snails, and i'm wondering how many wafers i should drop in the tank.

How big are the snails? Are they actually eating the wafers?

they are all about 1/2" to 1" in length. they do seem to congregate near the wafers.

Try a couple broken in half.

Algae wafers cant be all that bad if the turtles go nuts for them right???

Once a week I drop in a few of the wafers instead of the normal turt food and let them eat them up. They seem to love them like they love crickets. They will sit at the bottom of the tank and fight the plecos that are 4 times bigger and the other turtles for the prize. Its fun to watch them swim away to a corner with the wafers in there mouths and spend the next 20 minutes breaking them down to more manageable pieces.

Its quite amazing to see how long they can spend under water before rising to get a breath before returning to the wafer.

It should be fine if they have an occasional wafer.

I've used Hikari wafers for my turts as well.

i had this problem with my turtle eating the algae wafers that was meant for my cory catfish.

i just built a small cave with rocks and entrance ways and dropped wafers into the cave. i built along the side of the tank so that the holes are too small for my turtle.
it works great and the catfish are loving the cave

how are the corys doing with the turtles? mine ate the cory i put in with them. but they wont eat the minnows...

When I try things like that my turtles always wake up (probably from the smell) and eat whatever I'm trying to sneak in the tank for others.

I thought it was just me! my turtles wake up and eat them anyway!

I've got 3 bottom feeder fish in my turtle tank, and my turtle attacks the wafer almost every time. I've tried a few things, but he always eventually gets to it. He has suffered no ill affects so far.

i feel bad for my other tank inhabitants. (mystery snails, and minnows) because the turtles go mad for there food, but not for the turtle food...
