hey....i am in PA and there are a TON of stinkbugs around and they keep getting into my turtles tank...he eats atleast 2 a week i think at this rate....does anyone know if they are harmful to their health at all??? THanks!

Since they release a toxin that smells bad to deter animals from eating them, I would say that they aren't good for munching. Just because he hasn't showed any effect so far doesn't mean he won't eventually. Some toxins build up over time.

If you have this many issues, you may want to consider rigging up mosquito netting over the tank to keep the bugs out. You don't want the netting between the bulbs and the basking area, but overtop of the bulbs and tank should be fine.

he seemes to really like them though....does that mean he just doenst know they are bad for him? because most animals typically wont eat somethign that is bad for them i think

are they the big black ones that when u touch they stick there butts in to the air?

No, they are these really ugly, hard shelled bug that when you squish them/kill them they stink. they have a shield shaped shell and are really brown and gross looking. they fly too

They should not be poisonous at all.

ive read that dogs can develop allergic reactions to eating them. and im getting nervous with him eating them and stuff

I would say not to worry. What do you think happens in the wild. Res live in pa and im sure they get plenty of different things that fall into the water.

I'm in PA too, man I'd love to get rid of a few that way!! LOL
