I have had my RES for 4 months now but she doesn't seem to be eating the pellets I got her. She likes to eat flies and grasshoppers and I know its not giving her all the nutrition she needs so maybe should I try a different kind of pellets?..This is her first time eating them so what should I do?

give it some time. they will adjust to you and they will start eating pellets sooner or later. dont worry about it its very common

Shes not shy at all..its just getting her to eating the pellets she just looks at them

4 months of not taking to the food seems a bit long. Have you tried the tough love approach? You should only offer pellets for at least a week, by then, she'll know she's not getting the good stuff and eat them. You can certainly try a different brand of pellet as well. What brand are you currently using?

What brand of pellets have you been trying? I'd try another brand to see if they're more appealing to her.

I've noticed RES' only eat when they are comforatble and hungry.

check:
- Water quality
- Water Temperature (too cold?)
- If they already ate a lot?
- too much people watching him so closely scarin him

Like TheComputerGremlin said, tough love method could work, but i always felt sorry for my turts if i tried that LOL

Try a new brand...just buy the small bottles so you don't spend too much.

It's made with fruit and veggies and are in small pieces, and come in different sized bottles.

I bought reptomin but i thought about trying the 6 in one that has shrimp an other stuff ive been reading about turtles liking tuna she ate a little bit of the tuna but seemed like she wasnt too interested in it..

Have you tried dipping the pellets in tuna water? Use tuna water from tuna canned
with water, not oil. Good luck!

Try to avoid the things like shrimp until you have the turtle on a good cycle of eating the pellets routinely. Sometimes they'll hold out for the good stuff, knowing you'll cave eventually. Can you describe your setup? Water temps? Basking setup?

Well I tried to dip the pellets in the tuna juice but that didnt work either she liked the tuna itself..but flies are her favorite her water temperature is fine..im thinking about getting her some plants because i had dropped a 4 leaf clover in there an she seemed to be gnawing on that just fine is that okay for her to do that?

Have you tried leaving bits of tuna on the pellet? Then transition to the soaked pellet, then the regular pellet.
