I have a full size slider that I keep in a pond next to a vegetable garden and I notice he never eats pellets. Could he be getting his fill from the garden and the local insects (San Diego)? Also I put in four small tadpoles and some crawdads caught from a local stream and I don't see them. Could the slider have eaten them?

Anything in the pond could end up being a meal for a turtle. It's still a good idea to find out if he's eating anything at all tho. If he's not eating pellets and not eating anything from the pond, then there may be something to be concerned about.

Not sure how you may go about finding out tho.. .
