How often do you guys and gals feed pellets to hatchlings? Let me hear from everyone so I can make the call...I have been only feeding pellets once a day...and treats once a week.. They hope you change my mind LOL

Whether you feed them once or twice a day is really up to you, but either way they should be receiving a head-sized amount in total per day. If you prefer to break that into two feedings, that's just fine.

How many/what kind of treats do they get? For protein, that may be a bit too much if it's a large serving.

Also, it's never to early to start trying veggies

I give them krill and tiny shrimp treats

those are usually reserved for a treat becuase they are so high in protein. its best to be feeding a good kind of pellet as the staple diet. too much protein can lead to pyramiding.

reptomin pellets is a very good brand
although if you can get your hand on some reptomin baby then its even better, not just because it says baby on the can haha but because its smaller softer and easier for the hatchlings to consume.

but truly, if you look at the pellet can and see what the nutrition facts are then most brans are identical, more brands preferred over other brands + reputation

They only get a little every saturday they get Repto Min Baby daily

haha. i guess i should have read the posts a little closer. i thought bulldog asked what do they get fed normally.

I seperate them at feeding time in seperate 4" by 4" totes

now isnt it cruel to think that people actually keep their turtles in containers like those for their actual home and habitat?

When Curtis was a hatchling I overfed him all the time. Who can resist a cute adorable baby turtle that begs for food everytime you approach them? I would feed Curtis 4-5 pellets 3 times per day. I quickly found out on this site that I wasn't doing him any favors and would end up with an morbidly obese turtle!

My turtles are about the same size as yours, and I feed them each 2 baby reptomin twice a day. They share a sugar cube sized jello shot (veggies). Also like you, I give shrimp or krill treats about once a week. I think you're on the right track!

ugh i was even worse.

first of all, i kept my turtle in one of those tiny plastic death lagoons in freezing water with no uvb light.
and then i would feed it about 8 pellets 3 times a day, along with about 4 shrimp and krill about 2 times a day. i was TERRIBLE!

i'm so suprized that cosmo even lived though that! thank God for this site! it really did save my turtle!

What I don't get is why my turtle doesn't like the shrimp or krill treat? I mean come on, they're treats!

my little one doesn't like them either! oh and pcbuilder your little profile picture is SO cute!!
