does your neighbor use pesticides or other poisonous things to try and keep their backyard nice?

If nothing is being used on the lawn (pesticides, herbicides, etc.) they should be OK. Even so, wash them well. If you pick the greens when they're blooming, the leaves will be more bitter, so look for new, tender leaves.

None of my neighbors take care of their lawn. I can't recall the last time somebody watered 'em. They're all filled with dead grass and well... lots of what people consider "weeds" i.e. dandelions.

& Ralphulk, does that mean my turt will like his leaves with a bitter taste?
