So, the babysitter decided to get some ghost shrimp today for Izzy. She has 2 RES (both 12 years old) and occasionally gives them ghost shrimp, but she says that it takes a few days to a week for her turts to catch them.
I guess within an hour Izzy had eaten 2 of 3! Little suckers weren't fast enough! The lone survivor is hiding out under the log where she can't see or get him.
I just wanted to make sure that is OK. I do see posts where people offer them, but I didn't know if eating 2 that quick would do any harm and what I might need to look for if it might. She hasn't had any at all since I have had her.
Also, I saw mention of watching their lettuce consumption as it might give them 'the runs.' Izzy has been pretty good about letting one piece of lettuce last a day and a half, sometimes just a day, but lately it seems it is gone pretty quick. I also see what looks like waste floating on the top of the water. I usually need to clean it out everyday if not twice a day.... morning and night. Could that be the cause? I have noticed it more since I have been seeing her lettuce gone quicker.
She usually gets one medium to large piece of lettuce a day switched between green leafy and red leaf. She is pretty picky about any other vegetable, but she did eat 2 smaller bites of sweet potato, finally.
