Feeding and Nutrition :: Just a quick question about Hurley and his greens

I finally found a green he LOVES!


Dandelion greens!

No seriously, he goes through about 4-5 LONG leaves a day, quickly too. I'm sure if I put more he would eat them too.

But here is the kicker...if I rinse them off too much, he won't touch them. If there is still a little sediment on them (yummy grains of dirt on the stems, mmmm) then he goes wild for them.

Will that be a problem? There isn't enough "dirt" to really freak out over, but what about anything else that I may not have been able to rinse off? I'm just being paranoid, but figured I would ask.

As long as they're pesticide free, then no worries. That great that he likes them! What a picky guy I'm sure any remaining dirt would fall off as soon as you put it in his tank anyhow.

Maybe the dirt is seasoning? I wouldn't eat my greens without a little dressing...

Just don't give him too much or you'll have a turtle with diarrhea

Turtles are very picky. Very smart too. Just watch it for pesticides.
