So leonardo is pretty good with the pleco and actually plays with him its funny he never nips at the pleco its funny they swim together and are always better by each others. So i figured it was ok to put my goldfish about the same size as Leonardo but the fish is a little larger cause its kinda fat. But leonardo does eat rosy reds on a regular basis about 2 a week. So i put the goldfish in with Leonardo and now the goldfish is GONE! lol he ate it i was amazed when i came back after a couple of days and it was gone! I thought it could harm Leonardo cause of the size but he seems fine swims all around the tank basks and eats still so i guess hes ok! i thought id let u kno because i thought it to be kind of funny! Here is a pic of what the fish looked like and is about the same size of the fish.

Two things. Goldfish are fatty and should never be kept with turtles.
One more thing. It looks like he has scute retention. Does he have a UVB bulb?

its on the way. i am goin to buy one on monday when i get back in town! and what happens to scutes they just fall off into the water?

Yeah. You can net them up and keep them.

Oh my goodness! I guess Leo got a bit of a treat Just skip a protein feeding for the next couple of days.
I've heard RES like red stuff, so maybe that's why he goes for the rosys (and goldfish!) but not the pleco...

As for the scutes, when they fall off you can just scoop them up with a net. They're usual too big to get sucked up by the filters.

how long till the scutes should fall off?

There's no set time frame when the scutes will come off. They just seem to come off when they come off...
I'm still waiting for Frankie to shed some seriously retained scutes, 5 months after I got her!

i can't belive that turtle ate that big gold fish!
