Feeding and Nutrition :: New girl eating veg!

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So my new turt, who I have named "Frankie", took to veggies no problem!
But she's a bit picky.
The first few days "home", I threw some veggies in her tank, and she looked at them, but mostly ignored them.
So a few days after I got her, I put a few pellets in, just to make sure she was eating something. Man, she went after those quick! That answers the question to what her previous owner was feeding her ;)

Anyhow, once she finished the pellets she started going after the lettuce! And the best part is, she eats the crunchy middle bit! So I can give Ralph the end that's most leafy, and Frankie the crunchy bit, with no lettuce going to waste!

So now, about a week after I got her, I've seen another one of her quirks - She'll only eat her veggies if she has a few pellets as an appetizer  I put in some pellets last night, she ate a few, then suddenly, she noticed the lettuce and carrots that had been in there since the day before, which was untouched!

*sigh* Res and their habits :P

She's also be eating lots of cuttlebone. Haven't seen her basking yet, but that doesn't mean she isn't. I know she's been checking it out because she'll go partway on the ramp and look up at the light, like she's saying "Hmmm, It's nice and warm up here where the sun is..." ;)

Anyhow, just thought I'd post an update since I haven't been on in the last few days. :)

How neat that Frankie has her own distinct personality. It's funny how individual they are. Glad to hear she's settling in so well.
