Feeding and Nutrition :: What does your turtle like to eat?

My turtles LOVE red lettuce, pellets, cuttlebone, minnows, rosy reds, and anarchis. I just got my turtles some red lettuce from the grocery store yesterday and when i put it in the tank with them they went crazy! They were all atacking it! How much should i give each of them a day? they are about 1-1.5 inches. What kinds of things do your turtles really like to eat?

My turtle loves pellets most of all. He's a fiend! His other big favorite is carrots, he goes nuts for them. I only give them once a week since they have a fair amount of sugar in them. He also enjoys red leaf lettuce a lot, and anacharis. He's not too into feeder fish, and the other veggies i offer are only picked at. You don't need to worry too much about giving them too much lettuce, the worst thing that can happen is they'll have loose messy poops. If this happens, just cut back a little. You're lucky they're getting into the veggies so early, it took my turtle a long time before he started eating them.

My turtle loves shrimp above all. It's a once a month treat for him. He also loves pellets. He eats basil really well and does pretty well with red or green leaf lettuce. He'll nibble on cuttlebone, blueberries, tomato, carrot peel.

Napoleon goes insane for tuna, the first time I gave it to him I didn't know he'd be such a maniac so I gave him a good sized chunk. He tried to swallow it whole and nearly choked to death. He had it wedged in his mouth and literally couldn't open it any further to let go of the chunk. I had to pick it out from the sides with a toothpick.

Apollo loves anything wiggly, worms are hilarious because he'll stomp on one end and yank on the other to try to break off a bite sized piece.

Hercules seems equally open to anything, he doesn't get excited over pellets the way Napoleon and Moxie do.

And of course they all love carrots.

So far, Mikey loves everything. The only thing he doesn't like is water fern.

Sheba loves everything except cuttlebone.

She is especially fond of any kind of berries (and so am I....she's just a chip off the old block! LOL!)

turt seems to like everything. he even trys to eat the little statue of bhudda i have in there. but actual food, he hasnt turned anything away yet!

I painted turtles on the side of Dontallo's food bowl (so I can distinguish her food bowl with my frog's travel cage) and she'll try to bite the "turtles" sometimes. I think she thinks it's lettuce.
