TheComputerGremlin wrote:I don't know, from my analysis of the turtle foods (Reptomin, Turtle Bites, Mazuri), all I can tell is that Turtle Bites and Mazuri are nearly identical, with the major difference in that the Turtle Bites contain veggies and fruits. But they are nearly identical. I'd like more info on how Mazuri is therefore top of the line.

I currently feed a combo of Reptomin and Turtle Bites and based on my analysis, I don't see a reason to go searching out Mazuri.

Please enlighten me!

I'm not sure if you know this but if you feed the HBH turtle bites they have spinach in them.

I thought Turtle Bites were very high in protein and thus should only be given occasionally? If Mazuri is almost the same then wouldn't the same rule apply?

Mazuri has 40% protein, Reptomin has 42% protein.

Spinach has a high phosphorous to calcium ratio and it inhibits the absorbtion of calcium. Correct me if I'm wrong on that please.

Spinach is bad in high quantities. But seriously, comparing a spinach leaf with the size of the turtle bites, I really doubt that it would hurt the turtle. I like them because they are made with a lot of fruits and veggies, and I don't use them exclusively.

Mazuri has 40% protein, 10% fat; Reptomin has 42.5% protein, 8.5% fat; Turtle Bites has 38% protein, 9% fat.

Your last sentence shows exactly why it's good to give a variety of pellets. They all have their own unique amounts of protein calcium and fat.

I think Mazuri pellets are better because of their reputation for using high quality ingredients in their foods.

If you live in the DFW (Texas) there's a family owned pet store in Plano called Plano Pets that sells Mazuri. It's on the corner of Alma and W. SpringCreek Pkwy.

It's one of the best pet stores I've seen in a while.

I would give you guys an update and tell you how squirt likes them, blah blah, but they haven't come in yet!!

I got shipping confirmation on monday, saying it was shipped that morning, but today, still nothing.

You'd think that UPS could ship a package just over 300 miles in less than 5days. Oh well!

whenever i started feeding cujo mazuri i noticed a difference after awhile. i started to noticed that it seemed to help his shell. he has been about to shed for awhile now and i think this has helped speed up the process. he really likes it too. in my mix the majority of it is mazuri but it still has alot of other foods.

I LOVE Mazuri.... and thanks for the info of where to buy it cheaper, I have been buying it directly from them, @ $12.00 a pound plus shipping... the last time I bought from them I bought 5 one pound bags because of the shipping costs.... I will try the other sites recommended...

What are "Turtle Bites" if you don't mind me asking, I have never heard of them?

Thanks again, Summer

Just ignore the "Feed sparingly several times per day." comment on the web site. Oh, but do wash your hands! :-)

bit of an update, still haven't got the Mazuri!

I sent them an email yesterday afternoon, asking for a UPS tracking number or info on what is going on with my order.

Still haven't heard a response to my email.

I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what's up.

it shouldnt take 9 business days for a package to travel just over 300 miles in the same state.
