Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

so before i got my turtle, i dropped 4 or so goldfish in just to have somethin to look at till i got him. within 3 days all but one died...but thats not the point.

ive had my turtle probably for over a month. the goldfish has been in there probably around 2 months. and just now, he ate the goldfish. i feel sad :( cus the fish was nice. but thats how it goes i guess.

are goldfish in any way bad for turtles? i saw somewhere how theyre mostly fat and not really nutritious. but i guess it gave him some physical activity, chasin him around and such. but is it bad still? i dont plan on putting any more goldfish in the tank.

now i just hope he doesnt eat the pleco.

No it won't hurt him to have one once in a while as a treat, but you're right that goldfish are high in fat. Minnows and guppies are better for your turtle once in a while. The only danger from feeder fish is a possibility of getting parasites, but I don't think it happens that often.

If you love your pleco, you'd better put him in a separate tank. Turtles will also eat plecos.
