Wow! My RES is constantly begging for food! She is outside in a pond and everytime we go outside she comes out and walks around, walks over your feet and looks at you for food. When I bring lettuce out she walks faster than I have ever seen a turtle walk and will follow you anywhere if you have lettuce! We let her take a bite and put the rest in the pond. Then, she sucks down the lettuce and looks for more!

I just fed her yesterday evening and this afternoon I went out to get some leaves out of her pond and she walked up to my toes! I found her a couple of hibiscous flowers and she sucked those down kinda slow cause she really wants lettuce!

I think if I put a whole head of lettuce in there it would be gone in 5 minutes! LOL

I don't want to overfeed her, but do I have the hungriest turtle in the world?

Nope...my Zekers begs a lot too...just can't give in to those sad turtle eyes. What kind of Lettuce are you feeding? Stay away from Iceburg...it has little or no nutritional value.

I feed her Romaine, Red Leaf and Green Leaf. I have not given her ice berg lettuce.

LOL! So when she comes out of her pond and walks around, is she visiting or begging?

I noticed also that RES's are very, very smart. I can point to food in the pond when she is looking at me for more food, even do a "twirl" with my finger to turn around, and she turns around and gets the food! Reminds me of a dolphin! LOL It is like she understands I am trying to show her where the food in the pond is.
