Feeding and Nutrition

I recently got 3 baby hatchlings. Two are Red Ear sliders and one is a Yellow Belly. I feed them in a seperate container everyday, currently feeding the RES reptomin pellets and shrimp/tuna on occassion. they seem to eat reptomin pellets easily, first day they didnt eat more than one pellet the second day i let the pellets soak in tuna water and fed them, now they jump at the pellets! I feel them a proper quantity not too much not too less. I am worried about my Yellow Belly. He at first tried to eat shrimp and pellets but spit them out instantly. Then he never even tried to matter what I did. The only thing that worked was Tuna. He eats little tuna everyday, he simply wont eat anything else. I have tried mixing the pellets with tuna he wont eat it, or he would pick the tuna out and eat that only. I'm sure somebody else went through this as well, so what do you do in this situation? how to feed your turtle healthy food, i dont want him to get fat or pyramid by eating tuna everyday!

Soak the pellets in the tuna water. It's good you know he has an appetite, you might want to consider a tough love approach.

Finally kept trying and today he gobbled down pellets, I soaked them in tuna water for a while and they had become soft he ate a bunch easily

Now all my turtles are eating pellets. Will try adding veggies now soaked in tuna water!

Great to hear! Start with thin slices of carrots, as they are a favorite. Also think about freshwater aquatic plants. They will be there for your turtles to nibble on and/or serve as tank decoration.

Yes I fed them some veggies dipped in tuna. Im working on the plants aswell. What kind are the best? Right now I just use a plastic one. They love it. They all sleep in it.
