Feeding and Nutrition :: Won't eat his veggies

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I offer Borris, romaine lettuce, and fresh plants from our pet store, but he doesn't seem interested. We had fresh ones everyday but he still doesn't touch them. I know the caretakers before him didn't raise him well, because he looked far from healthy and now he looks great, and I am thinking all they fed him was the pellets. Is there any ideas to try to get him to eat his veggies.

He's about 5inches or more long, he's pretty good sized so I figured he's an adult and he should eat his veggies.

I'm interested in an answer to this one as well. Sheldon hasn't had much experience with vegetables so I'm trying to start. The first piece of lettuce I left him, he just pushed it off his rock and into the water. Then he left it there, with no obvious intention of doing anything with it.

you can try the turtle jello shots.
or a veggie clip: http://www.petmountain.com/product/aqua ... clips.html

the veggie clip is working like a charm for my turtles.

My turtle ignores veggies.

The Jello shots worked for me.

I freeze them and cut them into thin slices.

All right. I'll give the clip a shot and then if I have to switch to jello shots. :) Thanks!

the pet stores here dont offer veggie clips. I will have to try the jello shots. I offered anarchis(Think spelt right. Lol) today and he seems interested but doesnt eat. He eats the pellets like crazy and we feel bad for only giving the recommended amount cause it seems as if he is begging for more. lol

@Gracie Turts - Gotcha. The Vet said to make sure its in the water and to leave it for 12 hours before removing it.

One question though, if I'm feeding him pellets every other day, do I give him veggies everyday or just when I feed him pellets?

@tmay1917 - any large chain pet stores? They will stock in the aquarium/fish section.

@cutepanda86 - yes, you can use veggies every day.

the anacharis (think i spelled that right.) :P
yeah you can give them veggies daily.
make sure they're the good kind of veggies though, (ie red/green lettuce, romaine, anacharis, water lettuce, etc.)
and not the lesser kind ie. iceburg, spinach, broccoli, etc.
