And today, I got some cuttlebone and put small pieces in his pool. It's so funny trying to watch him eat it, but since he's still small, he can only take small bites! What can I do to help him?

I fed Ralph those type of pellets for a while. It made his poop orange!
Some people clip a piece of cuttlebone to the side of the tank with a veggie clip. Might help him get it.

I let the cuttlebone float in larger chunks (slightly bigger than her head) because it keeps her busy for a few minutes and gives her some exercise. I wouldn't worry too much, he'll get the hang of it.
