Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

You can get vitamin E from 4 main groups:

* Vegetable oils. Corn, canola, sunflower, sesame, cottonseed, peanut, rice bran, and palm oils.
* Nuts - almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pistachios and hazelnuts.
* Oil seeds, legumes and grains. Corn, lentils, wheat, rice, northern beans, chickpeas, Barley Grass. and oats.
* Wheat germ oil icon Extracted from the germ of wheat, Wheat germ oil has been used since the '20s as a vitamin E supplement. It offers a good combination of tocopherols plus tocotrienols.

This is from a website I was looking on for Vitamin E. Blueberries are not listed but I know they're a decent source for turtles, but being fruit high in sugar so they cannot be fed a lot, or often. Anyways what here can the turtles eat? And how much? Almonds, rice, and sesame seeds are what I am more interested in as they're readily available, cheap and I enjoy them myself.
Thanks :)

i dont think that it would be good for them to have any kind of hard nuts or sesame seeds and im fairly sure rice isnt good. from my understanding it doesnt look like its good for a turtle to have any of the ones in the list. as far as i know blueberries and apple skins are the best way for a turtle to get vitamin e.

No starches, nuts, or oils for turtles, sorry!

Is there a reason that a few blueberries a week won't do it for your turtle? It's not like they need a lot of vitamin E, and the pellets you feed should also contain vitamin E as well.

No oils? What about cod liver oil? :\ They seem to love it, although now I only soak pellet in it about once a week.

A few blueberries is no problem. They've been getting that since rejecting the many types of apple skins I offered. Just where I live the price of blueberries is on the rise.....a lot. Can't pick my own yet as it is ..well.. winter :P Anyways any other good vitamin E stuff? I'll keep feeding blueberries for now.

If you're feeding a reputable pellet, there will also be some Vit E included in the ingredients.

Have you looked at frozen blueberries? I had fresh ones that I froze, and then you just thaw them and rather than float, they sink, but my turtle doesn't care too much, as long as food is in her belly!
