Feeding and Nutrition :: Turtle stopped eating reptomin but started eating others...

it stopped eating reptomin. it did for like less than one tablet and it just left it alone.
then yesterday i tried turtle bites, didnt take it either.
water is perfectly warm @ around 74 degrees (hot, or cold?)
and i just bought reptoTreat the fresh shrimp and it loved it!
but i tried feeding it veggies, it didnt eat.
so....whats up? x[

she's lovin' on those treats! it may just take some tough love. Keep feeding the reptomin until she finally eats it... even if it takes a week.

keep the shrimps to a bare minimum. they have way too much protien in them to be fed on a daily basis.

so about 3 shrimps per every few days? or month?
so befor ei got the treats, it still didnt eat the reptomin .... why?
and is the water temperature okay?

well, since you call your turtle "lily" you should really refer to her as a 'her' instead of 'it' (pet peeve, i guess )

the less shrimp you feed the better. in fact, i'd just rather not feed them at all.

hey yomama, how big is your turtle? water temp should be 78-80* for turtles under 4". For adult turtles, water should never fall under 70* and never reach over 80* (in my opinion, 74-76* is best for bigger turtles).

There's no guarantee that a turtle is going to go crazy over Reptomin (though many do). And sometimes a turtle will just grow tired of the same pellet over and over. If the Reptomin is new to her, she needs time to accept it; if she's been eating Reptomin and then stopped, perhaps trying another pellet for a while and then going back to the Reptomin would be good.

The shrimp should be an occasional treat; making them a staple in the diet would provide too much protein and a lack of balance.
